First Communion

Typically, students make their first communion in the 2nd grade. They are only eligible to do this if they have been enrolled in Religious Education the year prior. Students are prepared during classes and must also attend additional courses/meetings outside of their regular class time. This is called "Immediate Catechesis."

First Communions will actually take place within the first couple weeks after the Easter holiday during the regular Sunday liturgies.

Older Students?

Students who are older than 2nd grade, who have not made their 1st Communion are considered on a case-by-case basis. Until we know how many students we have AND what grades they are in, we do not establish a class. However, we will be sure that there is an option and a plan for your child (ren) to receive (providing that they are Baptized Catholic).

*Children who are older than 7 years old who need to receive Baptism, will be considered part of the "RCIA-Adapted for Children" program. Call Jordan in the office for more information.

Patrick kneels by the Blessed Mother after receiving his first Holy Communion.

Students will make a 'Banner' that will serve as a momento for years to come! Beginning in February, we will send out instructions, along with a banner kit. There will also be a banner-making workshop staffed with volunteers and filled with pizza and supplies!
